Alex Mandli Selected for 2007 Smithsonian Craft Show


Alex Mandli, Jr. has been selected to participate as a ceramic artist in the 2007 Smithsonian Craft Show, the country's premier juried exhibition and sale of contemporary American craft. Three nationally-known art and craft experts met in Washington, D.C. in November to make the selection, choosing artist of the highest quality in twelve disciplines: basketry, ceramics, decorative fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, wearable art, and wood. One hundred twenty craft artists were selected from a nationwide pool of more than 1,000 applicants. (View Mandli's winning entry.)

Mandli, a Racine, Wisconsin potter, has worked on his craft since 1974 and currently produces pit and saggar fired ceramics. He has shown his work at the Smithsonian Craft Show in 1999 and 2000.

The 25th Annual Smithsonian Craft Show will be held April 19-22, 2007 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.
